Small Family Command Center Wall
With all of this extra time at home, I’ve been trying to get more organized. One thing that needed an update was our garage entryway. I had planned to create a family command center wall in this hallway after I finished the laundry room and mudroom makeover, but I got distracted by other commitments and never followed through.
Here’s how it looked before. The door straight ahead leads to the garage, and the door to the right is a coat closet. We put umbrellas in the wicker plant stand by the door.
I have a demilune table with a dish for keys and a plant. Next to the table is the door to the laundry / mudroom. Pretty blah, huh? This is the view from the kitchen.
I bought this metal magnetic chalkboard / sorter at The Christmas Tree Shop several years ago. While I liked it at first, it’s all wrong for this space. The only thing I use it for now is to write down grocery items. I knew that I wanted a calendar. I still wanted a place to jot down grocery items, but not chalkboard this time as it was too messy.
I found this dry erase calendar on Amazon. I love that it has a section to write down notes (groceries), there’s some cork board at the bottom, and it’s magnetic. It was also just the right size for my small family command center wall.
I wanted a place to put outgoing mail, so I gave this dated thrift store box a makeover with chalk paint. You can check out the transformation HERE. I recently organized our junk drawer, and now stamps and envelopes are stored in there.
The keys are in a cool vintage pewter pedestal bowl.
With the functionality taken care of, it was time to make the entry look stylish! I wanted my family command center wall to resemble a gallery wall. I added artwork and plates to create interest.
I so love my vintage prints, plates and frames!
This plaid rag wreath that I made didn’t sell at my antique booth, so I put it on the laundry / mudroom door.
My hand crafted Home Sweet Home sign also made it way back home from the booth. I hung it above the door to the kitchen.
I’m so happy to now have a functional and stylish family command center and entryway. It was worth the wait 🙂
Until next time!
Rebecca
I love that little table… and the plaid rag wreath is really pretty, too!
I love your command center Rebecca, every family needs one of those. Now if we all had the perfect little spot to put one.
I really like how you added artwork and plates to your command center wall….functional and pretty!
Wish I had a spot for a command center like yours. What a great way to keep your family organized.
This is such a functional space! I need to be this organized!
I love this space! It looks great and is still functional. The calendar is a great idea. I need on of those for my menu & grocery list.
