Rustic Plaid Woodland Christmas Tree
This is the earliest I’ve ever decorated a Christmas Tree. Never before has a tree gone up in my home during the month of November. But as I was given the opportunity to join the Christmas Tree Decor Blog Hop, I decorated a tree for the first time before Thanksgiving! I’m so happy to share my Rustic Christmas Tree with you 🙂
The tree was gifted to me by my stepfather. He and my late mother bought it at Home Depot years ago. It’s pre-lit with white lights and it has pinecones and berry sprigs permanently attached. My mom loved this tree…she used to put it up as is without any other decorations.
As I planned to decorate this tree, I decided to build upon it’s natural, woodland look. I tucked clumps of polyester fiberfil into the branches to mimic fallen snow.
I also wanted to use some of my vintage decor, including this plaid Scotch Kooler. From there, a plaid theme emerged and I added more plaid accents.
I draped this fabulous plaid throw over a Westlake rocker that my dad recently gave me. I found the throw at Home Goods last month. I wasn’t sure what I’d do with it then, but knew it would become some part of my holiday decor.
In keeping with the rustic theme, I placed the bottom of the tree in a galvanized tub. The tree stand didn’t fit, so I had to elevate the tree on cinder blocks inside the tub. That’s why the the tree is so high off the ground! I filled in around the tub with a burlap coffee sack.
I couldn’t resist adding my vintage sled and skates to the outdoor vignette.
And you can’t have a woodland scene without deer! I used this pair last year in my Holiday Drink Station post.
The wide red and green plaid ribbon that I wrapped around the tree came from Costco.
White birdhouses and a mini white tree are displayed on the rocking chair.
The tree topper is simply a white dove.
I hope you liked my Rustic Plaid Woodland Christmas Tree. I’ll be back on Sunday night with a DIY ornament, so please stop in again! Now it’s time to check out all of the other beautiful trees from my creative blogger friends. Many thanks to Michelle from Our Crafty Mom for putting this blog hop together!

Rebecca I love your tree so much, especially that it was once your mothers tree. The rustic touches that you added are perfect. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas.
Thank you Sonya. The tree is very special to me because it was once loved by my mom. I hope you have a Merry Christmas too, my friend!
Love the creativity you put into your tree so pretty
Thanks Maria!
Your tree is so pretty! I especially love the fiberfill snow and the galvanized tub.
Thanks Carrie! I love that tub and I’ve used it over the years for so many different things!
Hi Rebecca! I love the plaid woodland theme to your tree! You have so many great accents here, like those vintage coolers, ice skates and the deer. Everything looks so well coordinated. I’m like you…I rarely decorate in November, so this hop was a good reason to get a head start! Happy Holidays!
Thanks Crissy! It does feel kind of good to be ahead of the game this year. Happy Holidays to you too, my friend!
Basic and beautiful!
Thanks Trina!
You can never go wrong with a traditional Christmas plaid and the fact you have matching thermoses and other vintage goodies is amazing! Love that you added fake snow to your tree as well. Such a cute idea. Love it!
Thank you Cindy! I love to use my vintage items in my decor whenever I can!
