DIY Boxwood Style Holiday Tree
Don’t you love when you make something that looks fabulous for next to nothing? I sure do! Last week, it was my DIY Neutral Pom Pom Holiday Wreath. This week, the talented bloggers of the At Home DIY Challenge created their own holiday decor in under two hours! I decided to make my DIY Boxwood Style Holiday Tree. I’ve made these before, and they come out great every time!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Urn (mine is paper mâché)
- Cone shaped dry floral foam, preferably green
- Japanese Holly clippings (what I used) or Boxwood clippings
- Reindeer moss (I got mine at Dollar Tree)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Small ornaments
- Small pinecones
Step 1.
Glue the bottom of the floral foam to the top of the urn.
Optional: Glue reindeer moss to the floral foam. If you have white floral foam, this step is more important. I still had moss on mine from an earlier project. The moss helps the greenery blend in.
Step 2.
Begin gluing the greenery to the floral foam with hot glue.
Step 3.
Press in place against the floral foam. Keep going until the floral foam is covered with greenery.
Step 4.
Trim the tree so it looks symmetrical…it doesn’t have to be perfect.
Step 5.
Hot glue ornaments and pinecones to the tree in a pleasing arrangement.
Step 6.
Hot glue reindeer moss around the base of the urn.
Done! These will last through the holiday season. I mist mine with water every other day and keep it away from heat sources. At the end of the season, take it apart and store the urn, pinecones and ornaments away for next year.
I hope you like my DIY Boxwood Style Holiday Tree! It definitely took less than two hours to create, and it didn’t cost much to make 🙂
Now go check out all of the other 2 hour projects below. A big thank you to Eileen from Just Measuring Up and Megan from Two Feet First for coordinating these fun challenges!
Bye for now!

This is such a great idea. So cute.
Thank you for stopping by Kimmothy!
I love this project, Rebecca! Topiaries are my favorite! Pinned!
Thanks Lynne! I love topiaries too!
I LOVE projects like this! A pair of these would look great on my mantel! I just need to get back to Florida and trim my boxwood hedges before the landscape guys do!
It doesn’t take much boxwood to make them, and they do look great on mantels. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
