Poinsettia Motif Christmas Tablescape

Hello friends!  I’m so honored to once again join 20 talented bloggers for the Christmas Tablescape Blog Hop.  Many thanks to Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate for organizing this fun event!  Make sure to check out all of the gorgeous tables for plenty of table decorating ideas.  Now, I’m thrilled to share my Poinsettia Motif Christmas Tablescape with you!

Just like my Thanksgiving tablescape, the inspiration for my Christmas tablescape came from a set of drinking glasses.  I bought a set of six vintage poinsettia glasses with a matching pitcher at a consignment shop years ago.  They were still in the box and in mint condition.  I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never used them before.  I decided now was the perfect opportunity to showcase these lovely glasses!

I also happened to have a poinsettia tablecloth and four matching napkins.  The set looks vintage, but it’s actually reproduction.  The label states they were manufactured in 2003.  My mom gave me the set, so it has special meaning.

Has this ever happened to you?  Once I decided on a poinsettia themed tablescape, I found the poinsettia plates at a thrift shop randomly.  I wasn’t looking for them, but there they were, and they were perfect!  And I paid just $5 for the whole box of plates 🙂

Then it happened again!  I was at an estate sale last Saturday, and I came across these velvet poinsettia candle rings.  I was thrilled!  I also picked up the gold chargers at that sale for 10 cents each.

I got the real poinsettias at Lowes on Black Friday for 50 cents each!  I put them in this picket fence planter that I had in my stash, and tucked in sprigs of cedar that I snipped from my yard.  It added a festive touch and camouflaged the green plastic containers.

The only set of silverware I own is our everyday stainless steel.  So, I borrowed a tip from my blogger friends and used shiny gold plastic cutlery.  It looks so real in photographs!

I added some red and gold ornaments for sparkle…

And finished it off with vintage Santas at each place setting.

At one point, I thought that maybe I was going a little over the top with the abundance of poinsettia motifs.  But in the end, I love how it came out.

I hope you liked my Poinsettia Motif Christmas Tablescape.  Have a great weekend!

Rebecca

  5. Rebecca, the poinsettia theme is so cool. I’ve done the same thing before ~ buy something and put it away and forget you have it ~ until you need it. The glasses, plates and tablecloth are wonderful. And also the napkin rings. I think the picket fence is a cute addition too. Great finds at great prices! Have a Merry Christmas.

    1. Thank you Mary! I didn’t know about National Poinsettia Day! If I’d known, I could’ve posted my tablescape on Wednesday the 12th in honor of the holiday. Maybe next year we’ll remember to “celebrate” NPD on our blogs. Let’s try to remind each other of the date beforehand. I just love poinsettias! My mom always had them in our house during the holidays. It’s a pleasure to hop with you as well. Have a wonderful Christmas!

  7. Rebecca, I love, love the vintage vibe to your holiday table! Takes me back to when I was a kid and times were simpler. Just saw a set of the same glasses yesterday while I was in search of vintage Scottie dog glasses (no luck). I would have bought them but have no room to store ’em! The Santa’s at each place setting I remember having decorating my childhood home. Loved them then, and now.

    1. Thank you Debbee! I’ll keep my eye out for vintage Scottie dog glasses. My step-dad used to have a Scottie, so my mom collected Scottie decor as well. There’s nothing like the black silhouette of a Scottie with a red bow! I love the vintage Santa ornaments, too. I can’t pass them up at tag sales, and I now have about a dozen of them. It’s been fun hopping with you. Have a merry Christmas!

It is always fun blog hopping with this great bunch of stylists because the tables are amazing.

  9. What a wonderful theme for you Christmas Table, I don’t see much poinsettia items around anymore – so this all has that kind of retro vibe to me. I swear my grandmother had that tablecloth – or at least something very similar to it – I wish I still had it – I love it!
I agree with everyone else – the fence flower box it the cutest!! You really set a pretty table here and I never would have known that the flatware was plastic!! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

    1. Thank you Ann! I agree, poinsettia decor does have a retro vibe! My mom got me the tablecloth because it looked vintage even though it’s a reproduction. Often times the real vintage linens are stained and/or torn, so it’s nice to have one in new condition that just looks old. It was a pleasure hopping with you. 13. Rebecca, you are truly a girl after my vintage-loving heart! I don’t have enough superlatives to tell you how much in love with all these details I am, but that fenced centerpiece is most definitely an attention-getter! I love how it takes poinsettia to a cottage-y feel, and the rest of the table elements round it out perfectly. $5 for all the plates – wow, and plastic cutlery?! Who’d’ve thunk it?? Brilliant!
