Celebrate Your Story! #280

Celebrate Your Story! Link Party

Happy May, everyone! I had the most fun last weekend. My best friend, Meredith, hosted a “It Was Nice Knowing You Boutique” party with a group of girlfriends. Guests brought gently used clothes, shoes, jewelry and handbags that no longer fit or suited their taste. Everyone got to “shop” and return home with some “new” stuff! We were outside on a beautiful spring day, and it felt so good to socialize again. All the ladies agreed that we want to do it again, this time with kitchen, household and home decor items!

Here’s what else I’ve been up to:

Chicken Pot Pie Casserole Recipe With Puff Pastry Crust

Now, let’s party!

Party newcomer Susan from Hen and Horse shared her recipe for Shrimp and Grits. Being from Connecticut, I’ve only tried this yummy dish once while visiting South Carolina. Susan (also a northern girl) has perfected her recipe, and I’m definitely going to make it!

I’m swooning over Cindy from Country Road 407‘s vintage farmhouse kitchen! Look at the authentic shiplap, ironstone and open shelves. You’ve got to see the lovely spring accents she’s added, too!

Crafting and decorating with books has been a thing in the DIY world for some time, but I’ve never seen this technique used by Wendy from WM Design House before. I love how she aged the books with dark wax. And the bee motif is fabulous!

With Mother’s Day coming up next weekend, take some inspiration from Shelley of Calypso in the Country and set an outdoor tablescape for mom! I love this tropical theme she chose with the palm leaves and rattan chargers. She also has a clever trick to disguise the umbrella pole…ginger jars around the base!

My mom used to have a lavender patch with several varieties of lavender. She would dry the lavender and make wands with ribbon. Lisa from Fresh Vintage by Lisa S created this wreath out of fresh lavender! My mom would’ve loved this!

Lemon is my husband’s favorite, so I’m always looking for new lemon dessert recipes. Kippi from Kippi at Home shared her grandmother’s Lemon Jello Cake recipe from the 1960’s! This looks so good…I can’t wait to try it!

The most clicked link of the week is from Kristi of Mulch and Paint. Last year, she made May Day tin can baskets along with a friend. They delivered them to family and friends “just because”. I love this sentiment! Check out her tutorial to see how she made them.
