Brown, Gold and Rust Fall Tablescape

Oh, how I love Fall!  That first chill in the air, apple picking, putting on a cozy sweater, pumpkin spice lattes and the explosion of color as the leaves change color.  And of course, I love to decorate for Fall.  So today, I’m thrilled to join my table stylist friends for the Welcome Fall Tablescape Blog Hop!  I was inspired by the colors of Fall leaves to create a Brown, Gold and Rust Fall Tablescape.

I began with a thrifted tablecloth from my stash.  I don’t remember where or when I found it, but I hadn’t yet removed the $2 price tag.

The centerpiece is something my husband had before we met.  He used to have river rocks in the bottom and pillar candles in the jars.  I replaced them with pinecones and votives.

I had the gold chargers and gold (plastic) cutlery, but I was in need of plates and napkins.  I went on an emergency trip to Goodwill, and let me tell you…the Gods of tablescaping smiled down on me!  I found the placemats, plates, napkins and drinking glasses on the same trip!

The plates are vintage Bourne & Leigh porcelain in the Mayflower pattern.  They were on special for 50 cents each!  I picked up four mini orange pumpkins from the grocery store ($1 each) and spray painted them gold.

I couldn’t believe how well the napkins ($1 each) coordinated with the tablecloth.  And the placemats (4 for $3) add some nice texture.

I came across three amber drinking glasses ($1 each) on the shelf and walked away disappointed, only to find the fourth a few aisles down!

I put the three remaining apples from our refrigerator in a basket.  My daughter ate one as soon as she got home from school.  I also brought out my Dollar Store Woodland Candles that I made last year.  They were one of my first DIY tutorials on the blog.

I recently bought a brown glass jug that used to contain cider.  I put a branch inside with leaves that are beginning to turn reddish orange.  Faux leaves are also scattered about the table.

Now be sure to visit the blogs below for more Fall table styling inspiration.  Many thanks to my dear friend Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate for putting these hops together!

  7. You scored such great bargains at GW Rebecca! I don’t frequent our Goodwill any more as it is way overpriced, $4.99 for a dish which the same as a new plate at HomeGoods or T.J. Maxx. Love your vintage Mayflower plates…so pretty with your layers of golds and browns on your table. As always it’s a treat to blog hop with you, Happy Fall!

  11. You are the queen of vintage scores! Someone in that Goodwill obviously had the style sense enough to make the displays seasonally appropriate (or, was it that the donors donated by season, which was it??) Love the textiles and those glasses, especially. Very nice, well done Rebecca!

    1. Thanks Rita! Goodwill had Fall and Halloween aisles, but I found my goodies mixed in with the “regular” housewares. So I’d say there were some recent seasonal donations. It was a good day for thrifting!

  12. Rebecca, How do you get so lucky finding such bargains! The fall tablecloth and napkins can be used for years in different ways. That’s a cute story about finding the fourth glass on down the aisle. It was meant to be.

    Happy Fall!
