A Gardening Themed Tablescape for Spring

spring gardening themed tablescape

I’m thrilled to once again join my table stylist friends for the annual Welcome Spring Tablescape Blog Hop! Our lovely hostess, Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate, has brought together 26 home decor bloggers for a tour of our spring tables. If you’re stopping by from Corner of Plaid and Paisley, welcome! For my part, I decided to create a gardening themed tablescape.

If you’re a gardener, spring is all about taking out the gardening supplies and digging in the dirt. The inspiration for my table is a centerpiece full of terra cotta pots, seed packets, garden gloves, pruning shears and other garden related items.

The basket centerpiece is actually the top of a vintage baby scale! I removed it from the scale that I bought at a junk shop. I love the old wicker and faded blue paint!

I came across this cute set of four salad plates at Pier One last year.

Each one is different. They’re called Hello Spring.

Best of all, they were on clearance.

I paid just $2.37 for the set!

Lavender and yellow rose French tablecloth

The tablecloth features lavender and yellow roses. It was made in France and was part of the inventory from the shop I had with my mom years ago. I have an apron in the same pattern.

Dollar Tree small faux potted lavender plant

Of course, I had to check out the spring merchandise at Dollar Tree. I couldn’t resist these faux potted lavender plants!

Dollar Tree green wine glass

I’ve also had my eye on these green glasses from Dollar Tree for about a year. I decided that this tablescape was the perfect opportunity to finally pull the trigger!

You may remember the concrete urn filled with moss from my Bird Themed Spring Tablescape.

Flowering forsythia branches are always a sign of spring. I love the cheery pop of yellow from the faux branches lining the centerpiece.

  7. Rebecca, I’ve come to plant myself among your vintage and thrifty finds! Oh my, let’s start with the wicker baby basket and tablecloth – both so unique, the BEST kind of finds! Wow, I can see holiday seasonal use for that basket just as easily as spring. And that tablecloth looks three dimensional with that lavender stitching, am I right? Wow, that’s really a stunner. And let’s not overlook the deal you got on those Pier 1 plates – jealous!! I have the green wine stems from DT also, and you will find them so useful. I’ve seen some bloggers have a pale blue and I’ve yet to get my hands on those. This is a great table, and I love your vintage style. Your table welcomes spring. Happy you joined the hop, Rebecca, it’s always a pleasure to be in your circle.

    1. Yes, Rita, I’ll be using that cool baby basket every season! The tablecloth doesn’t have embroidery, it’s just printed, but it does look like it in photos. I’ve never seen the pale blue DT wine glasses, but I’m going to keep my eye out for them. Thanks for the kind words…I know you love the vintage stuff as much as I do!

  8. I just love your table with all the garden stuff. Gardening and Spring do go hand in hand. Nice hopping with you. Cynthia, Create With Cynthia

    1. Hi Pam, I checked spam but didn’t see it. I found some other legitimate comments from this hop, though, so I’m glad you asked me to check! I’ve had trouble before leaving comments on other blogs, too, so no worries! I appreciate your effort 🙂

  9. Rebecca, your tablescape is like walking through a blooming garden. The wicker basket centerpiece is a delight. The plates certainly are cute ~ and what a bargain. Lovely table.

  11. Rebecca, I am so ready for a flower garden and your tablescape has put me into an excited mood to do so. I love all of the gardening supplies as your centerpiece for your table. Gloves, watering can, pots, twine and scissors…all ready to transform our gardens into lovely works of art. The animal plates are darling and look so similar to Debbee’s Buzz plates too. So charming. Happy Spring and gardening!

    1. Yes, Debbee noticed that the plates would go with her table too! I can’t wait to start gardening as well…hopefully it will be warm enough to be outside soon. Happy Spring to you too, Marsha!

    1. I feel your pain, Sandra…our closest Pier 1 closed about a year ago. There’s another one still open a little further away, but who knows for how long. Now I’m now grieving the loss of AC Moore 🙁

  14. Beautiful bright colors to bring in Spring! I love that you worked the clay pots and seed packets into your tablescape…I may try that myself!

    1. Thanks so much Carrie! The tablecloth is sentimental as it reminds me of my late mom. She loved lavender!

  17. Oh my gosh I love those plates! What a great find and the baby scale basket is really special. Love you you lined it with the forsythia bush branches. That truly is one of the first shrubs to bloom around here in the spring! The clay pots and seed packets were a great accent too!

  18. Rebecca, what a charming, inviting table to welcome spring! That tablecloth is something very special indeed. And the little plates were a real steal and so adorable! I think they’d mix and match well with the woodland creatures I used on my table? But, wow oh wow, that centerpiece is fab-u-lous! I loved all the elements in it, and how clever of you to flip the pots upside down. For some reason, I really liked that. It’s also nice that the centerpiece is easy to see over when seated at the table.

    1. The plates would definitely fit right in with your woodland creatures, Debbee! The pots were stored upside down in my potting shed, and I wanted the centerpiece to look like something you’d see in a potting shed. I’m happy that you pointed that out!
