Autumn Tablescape with Dollar Store Finds

Outdoor autumn tablescape for one with a red and gold buffalo check tablecloth

Hi friends!  I’ve been so inspired lately by the fall tablescapes created by so many talented bloggers.  To see what I’m talking about, check out this blog hop hosted by Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate.  So, I decided to create my own autumn tablescape!

I’ve also been inspired by the use of items from the Dollar Store in various decorating projects.  So I decided to visit my local Dollar General to check out their Fall merchandise.

I found the woven placemat in Fall colors for $3, which I paired with a brown plate (50 cents on clearance).

Dollar store wood pieces and candles for making DIY woodland candle

I bought this bag of wood pieces ($1.40) for a woodland candle craft, as well as some letter and number stencils that I used to make the chalkboard Harvest sign.  I had the candles in my stash.

I must say, it felt a bit strange putting together an autumn tablescape in the 85 degree heat!  As a new blogger, I need to get used to getting an early start on seasonal decorating.

For my first blog tablescape, I decided to start with a “table for one”.  I’ll try multiple table settings next time around.

The red and gold buffalo check tablecloth is actually a pair of silk curtains from my master bedroom!  I just love the rich jewel tones.  I bought the sunflowers at Stop & Shop, and cut the hydrangeas from a gracious neighbor’s abundant hedge.  The red bucket was a fabulous Christmas Tree Shop find from years ago.  (I have several others in blue, yellow, and green).

I made the napkin from an orange toile fabric remnant.  I can never get enough toile!  I just tied it with some jute twine.  The rest of the accessories were things I had on hand…pinecones, apples, wheat, Indian corn, silverware and a wine glass.

I decided to shoot at dusk because the light is lovely and I wanted to showcase the candlelight.  It started to get dark pretty quickly, and you can see how the light changes in the photos.

I was pretty happy with the end result.  I’m really looking forward to doing more of these for the upcoming holidays.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed checking out this tablescape.  I’d love to hear your feedback in the comments!  It’s been chilly the past two days, so perhaps Fall is finally here 🙂

Have a great week!

Rebecca
