- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large egg beaten
- 1/2 cup molasses unsulphered
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup hot water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 gingerbread man baking pans with cooking spray.
Using an electric hand mixer, cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, molasses and maple syrup. Mix well by hand with a wooden spoon.
In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients together.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir with a wooden spoon.
Slowly stir in the hot water and mix until well combined.
Pour the batter into the greased baking pans. Bake for 35-40 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
