Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup molasses unsulphered
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 gingerbread man baking pans with cooking spray.
  • Using an electric hand mixer, cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, molasses and maple syrup. Mix well by hand with a wooden spoon.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients together.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir with a wooden spoon.
  • Slowly stir in the hot water and mix until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the greased baking pans. Bake for 35-40 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
