Hi friends! Yes, I know what you’re thinking…today is Wednesday, not Tuesday. All I can say is sometimes the day doesn’t go as planned, and yesterday was one of those days. But, it’s better late than never, right? So, without further ado, here is Tuesday Show and Tell, the Wednesday edition.
My first new acquisition is this vintage wicker basket. I found it at a thrift shop for $2. It would be great by a front entry for mail or it could be used as a magazine holder.
Next, I found this side table at a different thrift shop for $8. I’ve done well in the past with small furniture for resale. I plan to paint the legs then sand and stain the top, just like the farm table I showed you last week. It came out great, by the way! I will show you a photo next week.
My last stop was at the local Habitat for Humanity Restore. I love shopping at these stores because they carry tools and hardware in addition to furniture. Plus, it goes to a wonderful cause that’s dear to my heart…helping low income families become homeowners.
I found this piece of an old chandelier for just $2. I’m going to challenge myself to design my own chandelier! I’ll keep you posted on this one.
Finally, I came upon this lamp. Be still, my beating heart. I love vintage wrought iron chandeliers and sconces, but I’ve never seen a lamp quite like this before. It was coming home with me regardless of the price, but it happened to be only $9. 🙂 🙂 🙂
As promised, I have some news to share. I’ve wanted to find a retail space to sell my vintage finds and painted furniture for some time. About a month ago, I stumbled upon a group antique shop and I immediately knew that it was a good fit. There’s a nice mix of different types of goods, including some new and hand crafted items. It feels more like a gift shop than an antique shop. We’ve all been to antique malls that are dark, dusty and freezing cold during the winter months. This place is warm, bright and welcoming. I was so thrilled to learn they had dealer space available, and I moved in last weekend!
It’s going to take some time until my booth looks “just right”. I need some better display pieces and I have furniture in the queue that needs paint and attention. So I’m gong to hold off on announcing the location until I’m satisfied with the appearance and I have some more merchandise. I have the farmhouse table in the booth, so I’ll share a photo of that transformation next week.
Hope to see you again soon!
